Chairman of Hale Village receives St Mellitus Medal from Bishop of London
Michael Polledri, MBE, Chairman of Hale Village has been awarded the prestigious St Mellitus Medal by the Bishop of London, the Rt Revd & Rt Hon Richard Chartres, in recognition of community building work in the Village.
Michael was instrumental in creating the opportunity for the first Anglican church to be built in the capital for 40 years. The medal is named after St Mellitus, the Bishop of London who re-founded the Diocese in AD 604, and is awarded in recognition of substantial contribution to the Christian life of London. The new church, St Francis, was recently handed over to the Diocese for fitting out and will open its doors for services in 2017.
Commenting on the award, Michael said, “It’s a huge honour to receive this medal. To help create such an important community facility and service is a great privilege.” Michael’s vision for Hale Village when it was conceived in 2008, was to create a new urban village with

The Engine Room community centre, part of the new church offering, has been operating from temporary premises in Hale Village for two years. Overall the new church facilities will include a 24 space nursery, a café, two community halls, a learning workshop and a chapel for prayer and worship.
